Kapisanan Centre
0In many ways, Kapisanan Centre saved my life. I became involved with this wonderful community of young, intelligent, creative, and awe-inspiring Filipinos nearly a year ago. And within that year, I’ve been able to:
- act in a Fringe Festival play that received best ensemble cast + huge critical acclaim
- perform my own music in front of a vibrant crowd for the annual summer event, Kultura
- work on tons of different productions + edit more video than I could have ever imagined
- collaborate with brilliant minds who always push the boundaries of art + culture
- embrace my roots + make a real effort to learn more about what it means to be Filipino
I’ve never been so proud to know where I come from and I feel so blessed to have met the people I have at the KPC. These are some of the greatest individuals you could ever meet. I’m grateful and honoured to be able to call them my friends. This retrospective was a pure labour of love. Thanks, KPC <3 It's been a fantastic year.
Synesthetic
0I am awake. aware. anew.
I can taste the cold air filling me quickly
but I spit it back up like a spectrum
refracting bright white light through my eyes
and that awkward twilight feels warmer now from out of me
I touch the sound of subtlety and leading roles
and I can see the joy in here, in the here, in the hearing
of every single electronic pulse and wave from everyone
I am light. waiting. ready.
Change is New
0I don’t want to bore you with a predictable list. Instead, just allow me to show you the details. Fill your head with the beat and your heart with the hope. 2009. Feel good, friends. <3
A Mercenary Tale
0Back in September, a couple of friends were working on a short film treatment. On a whim, they asked me to throw together a short edit of the project they were shooting – just something quick and dirty to see what I was capable of putting together. It’s not exactly the way I had envisioned it turning out, but 3 months later, after numerous overnight editing sessions, I finally finished my “music video” version of A Mercenary Tale.
Stop. Motion. Sickness.
0Summer nights. I love them. I miss them. Winter nights are cool too, but cruising around is obviously more fun with the warm air on your bare skin, the windows down, the music way up.
I made this video back in August, shortly after finishing a project that included some stop motion footage. It is by no means amazing (a simple test really), but I finally got around to uploading it and so I’m posting it here.
Be forewarned: It’s pretty shaky + mostly blurry. Regardless, try to enjoy it!
Saving used + damaged goods
0In the midst of Christmas shopping, I found a toy Wall-E figure whose packaging had been ripped apart slightly. Knowing full well that the item inside was still perfectly intact despite this, I asked an employee if I could get some sort of discount and managed to save nearly 25% because of the broken box. Nice.
Earlier last week, I also picked up a Korg Kaossilator and Korg miniKP from Craigslist and saved a considerable amount of money by purchasing these second-hand rather than brand new. Nice.
So tonight, I decided to have a little fun with my new toys. I hope you enjoy the test drive!
